UTILITY HISTORYBurleson water: an artesian well, then Fort Worth lakes
Burleson had its own water early: by 1900 the town had an artesian well and a waterworks piping water to homes and businesses. Today it buys treated water from the City of Fort Worth, which purchases raw water from the Tarrant Regional Water District. That district was set up in 1924 after a devastating 1922 flood, and two years later its job grew to include water supply. Fort Worth draws on Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, Richland-Chambers and Cedar Creek reservoirs, Lake Benbrook and the Clear Fork of the Trinity River.
