UTILITY HISTORYCedar Hill water: Dallas supply with a backup well
Cedar Hill buys its drinking water from Dallas Water Utilities and keeps a city-owned well for emergencies. Its water report lists the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and lakes Ray Hubbard, Ray Roberts, Lewisville, Grapevine and Tawakoni among the sources. Several of those lakes came out of a 1958 long-range plan adopted by the Dallas City Council, which led to finishing Grapevine and Lewisville and building Tawakoni and Ray Hubbard; a 1975 follow-up plan authorized contracts for Ray Roberts and Lake Fork.
