UTILITY HISTORY

Crowley water: a 1960s system on Fort Worth supply

Incorporation is what let Crowley build public utilities: becoming a town helped it get a water system, natural gas and sewers in the 1960s. Crowley does not treat its own water. In 2025 it bought all of its treated surface water from Fort Worth, whose raw water comes from Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, Richland Chambers and Cedar Creek reservoirs, Lake Benbrook and the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. Fort Worth in turn buys that raw water from the Tarrant Regional Water District, formed in 1924, which finished Lake Bridgeport in 1931.
