UTILITY HISTORY

Dalworthington Gardens water: two big-city connections

In the homestead years, a typical monthly payment of under $25 covered the mortgage, management and all utilities. Today the city buys treated water rather than producing it: in 2025 its supply was 100 percent surface water. One supply comes through a Fort Worth main into the city's pump station on Arkansas Lane. Fort Worth draws on Lake Worth, which it owns, Benbrook Lake, run by the Army Corps of Engineers, and four Tarrant Regional Water District lakes, plus the Clear Fork of the Trinity. A second connection at Pleasant Ridge and Kay Lynn Drive brings Arlington water from Cedar Creek, Richland Chambers, Lake Arlington and Lake Benbrook.
