UTILITY HISTORY

Fate water: Lavon Lake by way of Wylie

Fate buys treated surface water from the North Texas Municipal Water District. The water arrives in the city's ground storage tanks and from there goes out through Fate's distribution system. The district takes raw water from Lavon Lake for treatment at its Wylie plants and holds rights in Lake Texoma, Jim Chapman Lake, Lake Tawakoni and the East Fork wetland project to add to that supply. The district was created in 1951, and its first treatment plant began operating in 1956.
