UTILITY HISTORYNevada SUD: a water corporation turned district
Nevada's water utility began as the Nevada Water Supply Corporation. On March 2, 2015, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality granted its petition to convert to a special utility district, and in 2021 it asked the Public Utility Commission to change the name on its service certificate to match. The district buys all of its water as treated surface water from the North Texas Municipal Water District's Wylie plant, which takes its raw water from Lavon Lake. Water enters the system at two delivery points, on FM 1138 and on FM 6. The NTMWD counts Nevada SUD among its customer utilities.
