UTILITY HISTORYNRH water: bought wholesale from two suppliers
North Richland Hills distributes water bought from two wholesale suppliers. In fiscal 2018-2019 the city purchased 3.740 billion gallons: 2.299 billion, or 61 percent, from the City of Fort Worth and 1.441 billion, or 39 percent, from the Trinity River Authority, according to its 2020 budget. The system then also had five potable water wells, seven irrigation wells and 2,200 fire hydrants. A January 2024 state planning summary lists the city's current source as the Tarrant Regional Water District's lake and reservoir system. That district was created in 1924 and completed Cedar Creek Lake in 1965 and Richland-Chambers Reservoir in 1987.
