UTILITY HISTORY

Parker water: Lake Lavon water through NTMWD

Parker's 2025 drinking water report gives its source in a single line: the city buys its water from the North Texas Municipal Water District, and the source is Lake Lavon. The district, created in 1951, opened its first treatment plant in 1956 and has widened its supply since then: a Lake Texoma water rights permit in 1986, Cooper Lake, completed in 1991 and renamed Jim Chapman Lake in 1998, a Lake Tawakoni treatment plant in 2011, and Bois d'Arc Lake, finished in 2022. Lavon Lake remains the district's largest source, and the district lists Parker as a customer city.
