UTILITY HISTORYCity of Pilot Point: a town that kept its own wells
Water helped draw the first settlers: Dripping Springs, just north of the hill, gave travelers water and a place to camp. By 1914, when Pilot Point had 1,371 people, the town ran its own water works along with a city electric plant. It still operates its own system instead of buying lake water. The city lists its source as groundwater from the Trinity Aquifer, pumped from seven active wells. A new 1-million-gallon elevated storage tank was under construction through late 2024.
