UTILITY HISTORYPoetry Water Supply Corporation: lake water via Terrell
Poetry Water Supply Corporation serves the area from a plant and office on FM 986 near Terrell. Federal drinking-water records list its supply as treated surface water bought from the City of Terrell. Terrell, in turn, gets its water from the North Texas Municipal Water District and names Poetry among six neighboring systems to which it sells wholesale water. That regional district was created in 1951, six years after Congress authorized Lavon Lake, and its first treated-water plant opened in 1956.
