UTILITY HISTORYCity of Richland Hills: wells plus Fort Worth lake water
Richland Hills runs a mixed system. Its 2025 water quality report says the city operates its own groundwater supply from the Trinity and Paluxy aquifers and buys surface water from the City of Fort Worth. Fort Worth draws on Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, Richland-Chambers Reservoir, Cedar Creek Reservoir, Lake Benbrook and the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. Four of those lakes belong to the Tarrant Regional Water District, which was established in 1924 and completed Eagle Mountain Lake in 1932. The city uses about one million gallons a day.
