UTILITY HISTORY

City of Sachse: water under contract with NTMWD

Sachse does not draw water from its own lake or wells. The city contracts with the North Texas Municipal Water District for the water it supplies to residents. According to the city's 2025 water quality report, the district holds surface water rights in Lake Lavon, Lake Chapman, Lake Texoma and Lake Tawakoni. The district was created in 1951 with ten original member cities, began operating its first treated-water plant in 1956, and opened its Leonard plant for Bois d'Arc Lake water in 2023.
