UTILITY HISTORYSouthlake water: a Fort Worth customer
Southlake does not draw raw water of its own. The city gets all of its water from the Fort Worth water department, measured through large production meters that are tested and calibrated at least once a year. The city's own profile credits water and sewer lines laid in its southern area in the early 1990s with fueling its later growth. Fort Worth draws from Lake Worth, which it owns; from Benbrook Lake, run by the Corps of Engineers; and from Eagle Mountain, Bridgeport, Cedar Creek and Richland-Chambers, owned by the Tarrant Regional Water District. That district was established in 1924, after a destructive 1922 flood.
