Everman.
No hardness figure on file for Everman yet.

Everman pumps its own Paluxy and Twin Mountains well water; its 2025 report lists no hardness or mineral results, so no figure is given here for the city.

COMMON SIGNS OF HARD WATER

What each grain per gallon looks like at home.

With no figure for Everman, the signs are the measure. Three or more of these, and the free water test will put a number on it.

01
Spots on glasses and dishes

Cloudy glassware and white spots the dishwasher cannot rinse off: the minerals that dry out of every gallon.

02
Scale on faucets and showerheads

The white crust is limescale. It narrows spray holes and seizes aerators and valves.

03
Soap that will not lather

Calcium and magnesium react with soap before it foams: more soap, and scum on tubs and shower doors.

04
Dry skin and hair

The same soap curd settles on skin and hair and does not rinse away.

05
Stiff laundry

Minerals bind to fabric and detergent. Towels come out stiff, whites go grey, colors fade sooner.

06
Water heater and appliance scale

Scale coats heating elements and clogs small valves, so appliances work harder and fail sooner.

EVERMAN’S WATER, BY HARDNESS

Paluxy and Twin Mountains well water, no published hardness figure

Everman is the odd one out among Fort Worth's wholesale customers: its 2025 report describes a system that is entirely groundwater, and it never reprints Fort Worth's analysis the way its neighbors do. Fort Worth's own wholesale page lists Everman among the 33 cities and districts that buy its drinking water, but Everman's report lists only its own wells as sources and gives a Fort Worth phone number nowhere. The water it pumps comes up from two layers of the Trinity Group, the Paluxy and the Twin Mountains, which the Texas Water Development Board describes as part of a stack of limestones, sands, clays, gravels and conglomerates whose freshwater zone averages about 600 feet thick in North Texas. That is a very different starting point from a lake. Reservoir water picks up its minerals from runoff across the watershed and changes with every wet and dry season; well water dissolves them from the rock it has sat in, sometimes for a very long time, and tends to hold steady from month to month.

The trouble for anyone trying to put a number on Everman's water is that the city does not publish one. Its 2025 report includes the standard note that secondary constituents such as calcium, sodium and iron are regulated by Texas rather than the EPA and need not be reported, and then does not report them: there is no hardness, calcium, magnesium, sodium, alkalinity or dissolved-solids line anywhere in the tables. This page therefore quotes no number for Everman. The state's description of the aquifer cuts both ways. In general, it says, Trinity groundwater is fresh but very hard where the formation outcrops, while total dissolved solids climb from under 1,000 milligrams per liter toward 1,000 to 5,000 as the depth to the aquifer increases, with sulfate and chloride rising along the way. Which end of that spectrum Everman's wells draw from depends on how deep each one is screened, and the report does not say. What it does show is natural fluoride of 1.31 to 1.7 ppm, attributed to erosion of natural deposits, a reading more characteristic of groundwater than of the Fort Worth lake blend, where fluoride ran 0.21 to 0.74.

At a tap in Everman, then, the water is one city's own wells, disinfected with free chlorine averaging 1.44 ppm, and its hardness is whatever the Paluxy and Twin Mountains sands hand up at each well. A house served mostly by the Hansbarger pair may differ from one near the Shelby Road wells, and nobody has published the comparison. Well water also tends not to swing with the seasons the way a lake blend does, so whatever a test finds in Everman is likely to hold through the year. We will not guess soft or hard from an aquifer description. The free water test on your own kitchen tap is the only honest number for Everman, and it is the one we size a softener to.

HOW A SOFTENER WORKS

Ion exchange, salt and regeneration.

One tank of resin, one tank of salt, and a valve that runs the cycle.

01
Ion exchange

Resin beads hold sodium ions. Calcium and magnesium swap onto the beads as water passes, and the water leaves at close to zero grains.

02
Salt and regeneration

When the beads fill up, brine from the salt tank rinses the hardness to the drain and reloads the sodium, metered by the gallons you use.

03
What it removes, and what it does not

Calcium, magnesium and a little dissolved iron. Not chlorine, chloramine, PFAS, lead or taste: that is a filter’s job, so see whole house water filtration for Everman, and a reverse osmosis tap or bottled water delivery for drinking water.

04
The salt-free alternative

A salt-free water conditioner turns hardness into crystals that stay in the water instead of on heaters and pipes: no salt, no drain, less scale, no relief for soap and skin.

HARDNESS QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

The hard water FAQ for Everman.

Is Everman’s water hard?

No published figure exists for Everman's water. The city's 2025 report lists only its own Paluxy and Twin Mountains wells and prints no hardness, calcium or sodium results. The state describes Trinity groundwater as fresh but very hard near the outcrop and more mineralized with depth, which could land anywhere on the scale. The free water test is the number for your tap.

Is hard water safe to drink?

Yes. Hardness is calcium and magnesium, minerals with no federal drinking-water limit. It is a plumbing, appliance, soap and skin problem, not a health one.

Does a softener make my water salty?

No. The salt goes down the drain at regeneration; the water carries a little sodium in proportion to the hardness removed, which a reverse osmosis tap removes again.

THE SOURCE MATTERS

Where the number comes from.

Each figure is read from the document linked beside it, in its own units and period. A missing result stays missing; a range stays a range.
