UTILITY HISTORY

Argyle Water Supply Corp.: wells plus Upper Trinity water

Argyle Water Supply Corporation serves the town with a mix of its own groundwater and purchased lake water. Its wells tap the Trinity Aquifer in Denton County. The rest is treated surface water bought from the Upper Trinity Regional Water District, whose regional treatment plant draws on Lewisville and Chapman lakes. Upper Trinity was signed into law on June 6, 1989, after Denton County cities and utilities spent several years planning a shared district. Lewisville Lake itself began impounding water on November 1, 1954, on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
