UTILITY HISTORY

Lancaster MUD No. 1: a district created in 2002

Lancaster Municipal Utility District No. 1 was created by an order of the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, now the TCEQ, dated March 21, 2002. Voters in the district confirmed it on September 14, 2002, and authorized up to $34,975,000 in bonds to buy and build water, sewer and drainage facilities. The district does not treat its own water. It buys treated surface water through an open connection with the City of Lancaster, which in turn buys from Dallas Water Utilities; those supplies come from Lake Tawakoni, Lake Ray Hubbard and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
