UTILITY HISTORY

Bedford water: Lake Arlington via the River Authority

Bedford buys most of its water from the Trinity River Authority's Tarrant County Water Supply Project. The authority was founded in 1955, and in 1975 the Tarrant Regional Water District began selling it raw water, which the project treats and delivers to Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Grapevine and North Richland Hills. Water is piped from Lake Arlington to an 87 million gallon a day plant on Trinity Boulevard, at the Fort Worth and Euless line. Bedford also keeps two city wells in the Trinity Aquifer: in 2025 they pumped 87,539,000 gallons, while the city bought 2,674,133,000.
