UTILITY HISTORYCross Timbers Water Supply: a 1964 rural co-op
Cross Timbers Water Supply Corporation began in 1964, when five Bartonville-area farmers, ranchers and residents incorporated the Bartonville Water Supply Corporation to supply farm and household water to the rural community. It had 139 members in 1965. The state assigned its exclusive service territory in 1979, and an elevated tank in Double Oak improved pressure in 1996. It took the Cross Timbers name in 2013 and serves Copper Canyon among other areas. It uses groundwater from the Trinity Sands and Paluxy aquifers plus treated Upper Trinity water from Lewisville and Chapman lakes.

WHERE TO RECYCLEWhere to recycle in Copper Canyon
Copper Canyon partners with Republic Services, which bills residents directly each quarter. Trash (blue cart) and recycling (green cart) are collected once a week, on Tuesdays, across town.
- Accepted: flattened cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and jugs, metal cans and glass; empty, clean and dry, never bagged.
- Cardboard: break down large boxes and place them under or beside the recycling cart.
- Also: the fall town-wide cleanup, first Saturday in October, takes household hazardous waste, electronics and paper for shredding.
