UTILITY HISTORYMustang SUD: a 1966 co-op that grew with Denton County
Mustang Special Utility District began as Mustang Water Supply Corporation, incorporated on May 13, 1966, with 50 connections and five board members; customers read their own meters, and new members were taken only as line capacity allowed. Today it blends groundwater from the Trinity and Woodbine aquifers, including some bought from the City of Sherman, with treated surface water from Upper Trinity's regional plant. That plant draws on Jim Chapman Lake and Lewisville Lake, which absorbed the old Lake Dallas.
