UTILITY HISTORY

Fairview water: Lavon and Bois d'Arc lakes

The Town of Fairview buys treated surface water from the North Texas Municipal Water District's Wylie water treatment plant. That plant draws from Lavon Lake and Bois d'Arc Lake. The district was created in 1951 as a special district of the state, after construction of Lavon Lake began in 1948, and its first treatment plant began operating in 1956. Bois d'Arc Lake is much newer: building began in 2018 and was finished in 2022, the first big reservoir built in Texas in close to 30 years.
