UTILITY HISTORYFarmers Branch water: an artesian well, then Dallas
Incorporation in 1946 brought the town's first improved city services. In the years that followed, Farmers Branch drilled a new artesian well, built a water tower and laid new water mains throughout the city. Today it buys its water through an agreement with the City of Dallas, whose water department began in 1881. Dallas uses surface water from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and lakes Ray Roberts, Lewisville, Grapevine, Ray Hubbard, Tawakoni and Fork, and it holds water rights in Lake Palestine for future needs.
