UTILITY HISTORY

Haltom City water: city-owned since 1952

Haltom City took over its own water service on August 21, 1952, when it bought the complete water systems serving the whole city, about 3,975 customer accounts. It has run water and sewer service ever since. Today its drinking water is surface water from Fort Worth, drawn from Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, Richland Chambers Reservoir, Cedar Creek Reservoir, Lake Benbrook and the Clear Fork of the Trinity. Fort Worth buys its raw water from the Tarrant Regional Water District, which county voters created on October 7, 1924, after a deadly Trinity River flood.
