UTILITY HISTORY

North Collin SUD: a merged rural water district

North Collin Special Utility District began as North Collin Water Supply Corporation, a nonprofit, and converted to a special utility district in 2015. In June 2016 it took over operating the neighboring Altoga Water Supply Corporation's system, and in an order signed in March 2019 the Public Utility Commission approved moving Altoga's facilities and service area, about 4,160 acres and 338 customers east and northeast of McKinney, to North Collin. The district's main supply is treated water bought from the North Texas Municipal Water District in Wylie, which draws raw water from Lavon Lake. Two wells that came from the Altoga system still serve the Altoga area.
