UTILITY HISTORYRoyse City water: a founding member of NTMWD
Royse City was one of ten cities that became the original members of the North Texas Municipal Water District when the district was created in 1951. Construction of Lavon Lake had begun in 1948, and the district's first treated-water plant began operating in 1956. Today the city's system relies entirely on purchased surface water. Its 2025 water quality report lists the North Texas Municipal Water District as its only source and publishes test results from the district's Wylie water treatment plants.
