UTILITY HISTORYCity of Sanger: six wells and Upper Trinity water
Sanger's very start involved water: the town began as a water stop on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe line. In the 1980s the city owned its utilities except gas and telephone. Today its 2025 report says Sanger pumps groundwater from six wells in the Trinity Aquifer inside city limits and buys treated surface water from Lewisville Lake through the Upper Trinity Regional Water District's regional plant. Upper Trinity was created when the governor signed the enabling legislation on June 6, 1989, after about 30 cities and utilities worked out a regional plan.
