UTILITY HISTORYLake Cities MUA: a shared utility since 1963
Shady Shores does not run its own water department. The Lake Cities Municipal Utility Authority was created in 1963 as a local government agency to provide water and wastewater service to Lake Dallas, Shady Shores and Hickory Creek, and a later act of the 76th Legislature validated and reconfirmed its creation. Federal drinking-water records show the authority pumping groundwater from its own wells and buying treated surface water from the Upper Trinity Regional Water District, plus groundwater from Harbor Grove Water Supply Corporation. Upper Trinity, created in 1989, treats Lewisville and Ray Roberts lake water at its Tom Taylor plant.
