UTILITY HISTORYForney Lake WSC: regional lake water for Travis Ranch
Travis Ranch gets its water from Forney Lake Water Supply Corporation rather than from a city. When the community was laid out, its developer worked with local water and sewer providers and built ground storage, a pump station and transmission lines. Forney Lake does not draw from a lake of its own: it buys treated surface water from the North Texas Municipal Water District's Wylie Water Plant, and it keeps an emergency interconnection with the City of Heath. The Wylie plant treats water from Lake Lavon, which the Corps of Engineers began impounding in 1953. The district behind it was created in 1951.
