UTILITY HISTORY

Westlake water: a Fort Worth wholesale customer

The Town of Westlake purchases its water from the City of Fort Worth, which draws on Lake Worth, Eagle Mountain Lake, Lake Bridgeport, Richland-Chambers and Cedar Creek reservoirs, Benbrook Lake and the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. Fort Worth owns Lake Worth, the Corps of Engineers is responsible for Benbrook, and the Tarrant Regional Water District owns and runs the other four lakes. In 2025 Westlake upgraded control valves at its pump station to better manage the rate of flow from Fort Worth, completed a Water Master Plan, and began designing a new one-million-gallon elevated water tower.
