Corinth.
No hardness figure on file for Corinth yet.

Corinth buys all of its water treated from Upper Trinity Regional Water District, which draws it from Lewisville Lake, and neither the city's report nor the district's prints a hardness figure.

COMMON SIGNS OF HARD WATER

What each grain per gallon looks like at home.

With no figure for Corinth, the signs are the measure. Three or more of these, and the free water test will put a number on it.

01
Spots on glasses and dishes

Cloudy glassware and white spots the dishwasher cannot rinse off: the minerals that dry out of every gallon.

02
Scale on faucets and showerheads

The white crust is limescale. It narrows spray holes and seizes aerators and valves.

03
Soap that will not lather

Calcium and magnesium react with soap before it foams: more soap, and scum on tubs and shower doors.

04
Dry skin and hair

The same soap curd settles on skin and hair and does not rinse away.

05
Stiff laundry

Minerals bind to fabric and detergent. Towels come out stiff, whites go grey, colors fade sooner.

06
Water heater and appliance scale

Scale coats heating elements and clogs small valves, so appliances work harder and fail sooner.

CORINTH’S WATER, BY HARDNESS

Upper Trinity lake water alone, from the Taylor plant, with no hardness figure printed

Corinth has no wells and no treatment plant of its own. Federal facility records for the city system (TX0610065) show a single kind of source, surface water purchased from Upper Trinity's regional treatment plant, arriving at two pump stations: one at 1124 Postwood Drive with 0.5 and 1.5 million gallon ground tanks and pumps rated at 1,000 gallons a minute, and a larger one at 1651 Lake Sharon Drive with 3 million and 1.5 million gallon ground tanks and pumps rated at 4,800 gallons a minute, which together feed two 0.5 million gallon elevated tanks at 1200 North Corinth and 3031 Meadowview Drive. The city's 2025 report says the Upper Trinity water comes from Lake Lewisville. Upper Trinity treats that lake, and Ray Roberts Lake upstream of it, at its Thomas E. Taylor plant in Lewisville, a 70 million gallon a day plant being expanded to 85 that runs raw water through coagulation, settling, ozone, carbon and sand filters and chloramine before it goes to clearwell storage and out to customers.

Treated lake water is not soft, but no one in Corinth's supply chain publishes its hardness. The city's report carries a page of Upper Trinity plant data and a page of Corinth's own distribution results, chloramine residual averaging 2.6 mg/L, nitrate, disinfection by-products, lead and copper, and explains that secondary constituents such as calcium, sodium and iron are regulated by the state and not required in the report. Upper Trinity's own 2025 Consumer Confidence Report lists bromate, arsenic, barium, copper, lead, fluoride at 0.26 ppm (the district adds none), nitrate and turbidity, and nothing for hardness, calcium or magnesium. The nearest published number for this water is Dallas's. Dallas treats Ray Roberts and Lewisville lake water, with Grapevine, at its Elm Fork and Bachman plants, and in a December 2023 memorandum put its system's hardness at 120 to 155 mg/L as calcium carbonate; the USGS scale calls that moderately hard to hard, about 7 to 9 grains per gallon. That is Dallas's figure for Dallas's plants, not Corinth's, and this page prints no figure for Corinth.

Because Corinth has one source and no wells to blend, its water is more uniform than most of its neighbors': the same Taylor plant water fills both pump stations, and what changes is the lake itself, which picks up calcium and magnesium from its watershed and varies with rainfall and season. A home off Lake Sharon Drive and one near Postwood Drive are drinking the same thing on the same day. Scale in kettles and on shower glass, the signs this page lists above, is what moderately hard to hard reservoir water does, and the only way to put a Corinth number on it is to measure it. Our free water test gives a Corinth tap its own total hardness, in ppm and in grains, and we size the softener to that result rather than to another city's range.

HOW A SOFTENER WORKS

Ion exchange, salt and regeneration.

One tank of resin, one tank of salt, and a valve that runs the cycle.

01
Ion exchange

Resin beads hold sodium ions. Calcium and magnesium swap onto the beads as water passes, and the water leaves at close to zero grains.

02
Salt and regeneration

When the beads fill up, brine from the salt tank rinses the hardness to the drain and reloads the sodium, metered by the gallons you use.

03
What it removes, and what it does not

Calcium, magnesium and a little dissolved iron. Not chlorine, chloramine, PFAS, lead or taste: that is a filter’s job, so see whole house water filtration for Corinth, and a reverse osmosis tap or bottled water delivery for drinking water.

04
The salt-free alternative

A salt-free water conditioner turns hardness into crystals that stay in the water instead of on heaters and pipes: no salt, no drain, less scale, no relief for soap and skin.

HARDNESS QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

The hard water FAQ for Corinth.

Is Corinth’s water hard?

There is no published figure for Corinth. The city buys only Upper Trinity water from Lewisville Lake, the city's 2025 report prints no hardness line, Upper Trinity's prints none either, and Dallas, treating the same lakes, reports 120 to 155 mg/L, which is moderately hard to hard. Only a free water test puts Corinth's actual number on your tap.

Is hard water safe to drink?

Yes. Hardness is calcium and magnesium, minerals with no federal drinking-water limit. It is a plumbing, appliance, soap and skin problem, not a health one.

Does a softener make my water salty?

No. The salt goes down the drain at regeneration; the water carries a little sodium in proportion to the hardness removed, which a reverse osmosis tap removes again.

THE SOURCE MATTERS

Where the number comes from.

Each figure is read from the document linked beside it, in its own units and period. A missing result stays missing; a range stays a range.
