HOW HARD IS TROPHY CLUB’S WATER?

No hardness figure on file for Trophy Club yet.
Trophy Club MUD No. 1 blends Fort Worth lake water with its own Trinity and Paluxy well water, and its 2025 report prints no hardness figure for the blend.
COMMON SIGNS OF HARD WATER
What each grain per gallon looks like at home.
With no figure for Trophy Club, the signs are the measure. Three or more of these, and the free water test will put a number on it.
Cloudy glassware and white spots the dishwasher cannot rinse off: the minerals that dry out of every gallon.
The white crust is limescale. It narrows spray holes and seizes aerators and valves.
Calcium and magnesium react with soap before it foams: more soap, and scum on tubs and shower doors.
The same soap curd settles on skin and hair and does not rinse away.
Minerals bind to fabric and detergent. Towels come out stiff, whites go grey, colors fade sooner.
Scale coats heating elements and clogs small valves, so appliances work harder and fail sooner.
TROPHY CLUB’S WATER, BY HARDNESS
Fort Worth lake water blended with Trinity and Paluxy well water, no figure for the mix
Trophy Club's 2025 Drinking Water Quality Report is printed in two columns. One lists what the district measured in its own system, the other what the City of Fort Worth measured in the water it sold, because a Trophy Club tap carries both. The district's water page explains the arrangement: Fort Worth water is blended with the district's own well water to hold down the cost of supply, the mix is disinfected with chloramine, and the district stores it in two ground tanks of 3 million gallons each before five variable speed pumps lift it into the mains and two elevated tanks holding 900,000 gallons between them, with a 400 kilowatt generator behind the pump station. One detail in the report shows the two waters really are different: Fort Worth adds fluoride and the district does not, so Fort Worth's fluoride ran 0.21 to 0.74 ppm in 2025 while the district's own most recent measurement, from 2023, was 0.409 ppm.
Neither column prints a hardness figure. Fort Worth's own water quality page gives its 2025 treated water as 108 to 150 ppm of total hardness, which Fort Worth also states as 6 to 9 grains, a moderately hard to hard range, and that is the character of most of what the district delivers. The rest comes out of the ground. The Water Development Board describes Trinity Aquifer water as very hard where the formations outcrop and picking up more dissolved minerals with depth, past 1,000 milligrams per liter of dissolved solids where the aquifer dips; the Paluxy is one of the Trinity's named sands. Whether a particular well runs harder or softer than the lake water depends on its depth and the layer it is finished in, and the district has not published calcium, magnesium or sodium results for its wells, so we cannot say which way Trophy Club's blend leans from Fort Worth's range, and we will not average our way to an answer. The district's one extra measurement, lithium sampled under the federal unregulated contaminant program in July and October 2025 at an average of 11.6 parts per billion, says nothing about hardness either.
What that means at a Trophy Club tap is that the figure moves two ways at once: with Fort Worth's seasonal lake blend, and with how much well water the district is mixing in at the time. Two homes on the same street get the same mix on the same day; the same home can get a different mix in August and in February. We do not have a number for the town. The district's annual report is where a figure would appear, and until it prints one, a free water test is how to learn what your tap carries and the number to size a softener to; if the test lands near 9 grains you are seeing Fort Worth's upper range, and a system sized there will cover the blend.

HOW A SOFTENER WORKS
Ion exchange, salt and regeneration.
One tank of resin, one tank of salt, and a valve that runs the cycle.
Resin beads hold sodium ions. Calcium and magnesium swap onto the beads as water passes, and the water leaves at close to zero grains.
When the beads fill up, brine from the salt tank rinses the hardness to the drain and reloads the sodium, metered by the gallons you use.
Calcium, magnesium and a little dissolved iron. Not chlorine, chloramine, PFAS, lead or taste: that is a filter’s job, so see whole house water filtration for Trophy Club, and a reverse osmosis tap or bottled water delivery for drinking water.
A salt-free water conditioner turns hardness into crystals that stay in the water instead of on heaters and pipes: no salt, no drain, less scale, no relief for soap and skin.
HARDNESS QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
The hard water FAQ for Trophy Club.
Is Trophy Club’s water hard?
Partly. Most of Trophy Club's water is Fort Worth's treated lake water, which Fort Worth measured at 108 to 150 ppm of hardness in 2025, moderately hard to hard; the rest is the district's own Trinity and Paluxy well water, for which no hardness result is published. The district's report prints no figure for the blend, so a free water test is the only number for your tap.
Is hard water safe to drink?
Yes. Hardness is calcium and magnesium, minerals with no federal drinking-water limit. It is a plumbing, appliance, soap and skin problem, not a health one.
Does a softener make my water salty?
No. The salt goes down the drain at regeneration; the water carries a little sodium in proportion to the hardness removed, which a reverse osmosis tap removes again.

Where the number comes from.
Each figure is read from the document linked beside it, in its own units and period. A missing result stays missing; a range stays a range.
